Let Spring Break Begin!!!

Hey bookworms! I am free!!! Well at least of my on Campus classes! I still have to do a post for my online Sociology class on Sunday, but I don’t have to stress about stuff due on Monday! It feels so good to not wake up stressing about the million things to do. I am in my last year of University well at least in my undergrad, and I put more pressure on myself to get A’s! I want to get the most out of my classes especially my creative writing class! So unlike some people who get to go away for break… I am a little disappointed to say my plans to go away for my last one didn’t work out as planned, but that’s life. *shrugs* Instead, I am going to travel the best way a college student can without going anywhere! How is that do you ask? With books, movies/ shows, and my new video game! So in case you’re curious about what I plan to read, watch, and play I’d thought I’d do a blog post! Plus I plan to also fill this break with blogging and writing for my next workshop submission which is due on Thursday. So, bookworms, even if this break will seem a bit lazy to most people who get to venture out I am going to try and keep productive!

Books

So I’ve already finished two books since the first day of my break which was yesterday, and it makes me feel AMAZING! I’ve been in a huge slump since the semester started, and maybe because I haven’t found anything we’ve read in class too interesting. You would think that since they bored me they would have spurred me onto want to read more for fun they had the opposite effect. Since the reading was not something I looked forward to, they take me forever to read and by the time I finish it’s time to get ready for bed. So now that my Theory Test due date was moved I plan to spend spring break to read purely for pleasure! Here is what I read and plan to finish/read for break.

Recently Finished:

 1. Pokemon Adventures Volume 3 by Hidenori Kusaka, Satoshi Yamamoto

Pokemon Adventures Volume 3

Honestly my brain was on break on Wednesday in class. I couldn’t focus at all, so while I tried my best to participate I was reading this in class. I know horrible, but I couldn’t help it! I finished it late Wednesday, and it was a great way to start break! I gave it a 5 out of 5 stars!

2. Unleashed by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié

Wolf Springs Chronicles

This book was one of the few I got at the Las Vegas Valley Book Festival! It’s a paperback which means I have to be careful with it because of moments when my hands sweat badly. So I’ve been reading it off and on since October! I know forever, right? It’s not that it didn’t keep me interested, but life gets in the way! So this book was the first novel I wanted to finish over break, and I don’t regret it. Well… Maybe a bit because it’s part of a trilogy… Which of course means I want the other two! I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars and will talk more about why in my wrap-up!

Spring Break TBR

Now I know I have talked about the first 4 for the last few months, but again I blame my slump! So I really plan to dig into them, and get them read over break! The rest are ones I’ve been dying to read, so I am so excited to devour them!

2.  Bitten by Kelley Armstrong

3.  Hood By Emma Donoghue

4. Eat, Pray, Love By Elizabeth Gilbert

8. Everything Leads to You by Nina Lacour

9. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling

What I Plan to Watch!

1. Doctor Who

Doctor-who-logo-nine

Okay now if you read my Valentine’s Day post you know I am a Whovian! Now for break binge watching Doctor Who on Netflix will not only be for pleasure, but I also plan to use it for my final project in my Women Traveler’s class! Using my favorite companions as the travelers I am doing my project on. I’m on the fence though about using my blog for this project, so if anyone thinks using my blog for this is a good idea let me know please!

2. Once Upon a Time

Once_Upon_aTime_promo_image

I am a huuuuuuuuuuge Oncer it is one of my favorite shows and I know I will watch it as normal, but it deserves a mention! I can’t wait till Sundays and am more than happy it’s back on!

3. Boy Meets World

boy-meets-world-photo

Well since I can’t go anywhere for break I plan on buying the DVD’s off of amazon to compensate! This show always makes me feel better even when it makes me feel the feels! So yeah the book buying ban starts, but to make myself feel better I am buying movies… Yes I have a problem…

4. Wolf’s Rain

Wolf-s-Rain2861341-1024-768

This is one of my favorite animes! I love anything with Wolves and I think this was one of my first animes. I own all the DVDs and feel I need to feel the feels of this anime again. It might get me in the mood for working on my story that involves wolves in a way. So I think this deserves a binge as well!

5. Any of My Gerard Butler Movies

Gerard Butler Wallpaper @ Go4Celebrity.com

So here is a fact about me Gerard Butler is my number one celebrity crush, and he even has his own section in my DVD case (I have a big album type thing because I feel actual cases take up too much room)! He is just perfection that only gets better with age. Like I said above since I’m not going on break I am splurging a bit on DVD’s most of them GB movies! So to make up for the fact that I won’t be able to spend break visiting my bf (timing and schedules suck, but there is hopefully more trips to come!)… I plan to distract myself with Gerry’s eyes and oh so yummy accent…

My Game

Tales of Xillia

tales-of-xillia-logo

I got this book for my birthday for my PS3, so I’ve only been playing it for a bit, but so far loving the story line! I love that you get to choose between the two main characters whose story line you get to follow. I love RPG games I guess it goes hand and hand in loving books because I love a good story line. I am not the best gamer because the PS3 is the first big game system in a while, so I am not the best gamer, but I try.

So bookworms those are my spring break plans! If you are on break, what do you plan on doing? If you already had break, what did you do? Have you read any of the books I mentioned or do you plan to? Are you part of the fandoms mentioned above? Are you an anime lover who has any good ones to share? What system or games do you like to play? Who is your celebrity crush?  If you guys want to see what movies I buy let me know if you want to see a haul! Have a good weekend and fill it with fun! Sorry if this post was long I just am trying to perk myself up about the perks of staying home for break. So I hope you guys like at least some of this post.

Top Ten Tuesday

toptentuesday

Hey Bookworms here is another post for the week! Blogging is really helping me feel better. Talking about books just really helps. It gets me out of my head and makes me think about things I love especially this weeks Top Ten Tuesday post. If you don’t know Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish that has a weekly topic that are really fun to answer. This week’s topic is: Top 10 Books From My Childhood (Or teen years) That I Would Love To Revisit which is exactly what I need. As a child and as a teen books were an escape and a safe haven for me when life was chaotic more or less. As a University student and especially as a senior it’s a lot harder to find time! So I am hoping this will remind me of happier moments curled up with them and my faster reading pace! So let’s get this started! I have a mix of the two because a lot of my childhood books I had to give away and I don’t remember the titles… I am trying to mention books i haven’t mentioned a million times

Top 10 Books From My Childhood (Or teen years) That I Would Love To Revisit

1. The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling

harry-potter-montage

This series got me through a lot! I read it later than everyone I didn’t start until 7th grade, but I feel it helped me a lot in life. Harry survived a lot, so it helped me have an escape wishing I was fighting fictional creatures rather than my own chaos. It showed me what true friendship and family was. It impacted my life in the best way, so I will love and defend this series till the day I die!

2. The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge

The Little White Horse

This was literally my favorite book when I was younger it only came in paperback and I read it so many times it was falling apart. Definitely a sweet story. I bought it on my nook to revisit it!

3. The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine

The Two Princesses of Bamarre

This book I reread often when I wanted to get lost in action my body could not do, such as fencing. It showed that even princesses don’t have to conform to the norm!

4. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

Inkheart

Honestly one of my favorite books ever! (Haven’t finished the series yet because I found out Inkdeath was a thing way laaaaater) The aspect of a father and daughter sharing a love of books was something I craved. I loved the characters and the imagery in this book being in Italy because it was different from what I know.

5. Night World Series by LJ Smith

Night World Volume 1 Night World 2 Night World 3

Honestly I loved these books devoured these big volumes in 2 days a piece. It made me love the paranormal more and the belief of true mates! Definitely one I want to reread!

6. Immortals Series by Tamora Pierce

the-immortals-series

My first encounter with Tamora Pierce and I fell in love with the fantasy genre from this series. I definitely love animals and her use of setting was the best. People judge for the love interests, but Tamora Pierce is sticking with the time setting of this world. I definitely loved the action and use of action!

7. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

I definitely adored these books because I found within a piece of each girl within me. It showed me some friendships can lasts and are pure. I definitely cried with them, laughed with them, and swooned with them. Brashares knows how to bond you to a character.

8. Summer Boys by Hailey Abbot

summer boys Next Summer After Summer Last Summer

This series definitely was my first introduction to lust. It was also a vacation for me when we didn’t go anywhere. This was definitely one of my favorite contemporary romances!

9. The Blue Blood Series Melissa de la Cruz

Blue Bloods

This series is definitely one I want to revisit especially because of the gaps of waiting for the books the last book I was a bit detached. I love the mythology in these books and use of reincarnation.

10. The Sight by David Clement-Davies

The Sight

This is the first book in a duology although I haven’t got to the second book the use of world building in this ensnared my young wolf loving mind. Definitely a world I have to revisit asap!

So Bookworms those are my ten? Which pages do you want to slip into? Have you nestled into any I listed? Books have always been my companions and protectors. They kept me sane and a reason to find hope. I don’t know where I would be without books honestly. That’s why I want to keep writing my blog and my stories. I want to make a difference to people. Do you have any ones that make you feel this way? Feel free to share with me and comment! Link yours so I can see! Hope you are all having a good week!

Birthday Month Book Haul!

Hey Bookworms! I know I said I have major TBR shame and this post is adding more shame! I noticed though I had a little extra money and life has not been easy on me lately and feeling a little under the weather, so I thought I would cheer myself up with books! I also wanted to showcase the book that my book buddy (who is the best Paige from The Paige-Turner!  So here are the few books I’ve bought in the past few days. I can’t say the whole month because at the beginning of it I gave into the 2.99 section on the Nook section and my nook doesn’t keep the new on the books I haven’t read yet like it use to. Which is bothersome because that is how I knew what was on my TBR which is why I created the shelf on my nook. Anywho onto what I got and bought!

Birthday Books!

1. The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black

The book I got from Paige!

The Darkest Part of the Forest

2. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

This was one I bookbub posted to let me know it was on sale for $2.99 and having read The Wizard of Oz in February I couldn’t resist!

3. Pokemon Black and White Volume 2 by Hidenori Kusaka and Satoshi Yamamoto

Pokemon Black and White Vol 2

I definitely devoured this one and enjoyed it more than the first!

6. Jet by Jay Crownover

Jet

I have books one and three and this one was $1 off. If anyone has read this series can you tell me if they can be read as stand alones please!

7. Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios

Exquisite Captive

I’ve wanted this book since it’s release! Aladdin is my favorite movie and Once Upon a time in Wonderland made me curious to know and read more about genie myths!

8. The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride 1) by James Patterson

The Angel Experiment

Book I was suggested in Creative writing because my book deals with escaped experiments. Never read but don’t want to sound like I stole this idea so need to read it ASAP!

9. The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

312407

One of the books I have (read and loved) but it’s not with me so I bought a copy on my nook! Good thing too because we’re going to read the first chapter for my creative writing class because we’re going over beginnings! So if anyone asks that was my reason!

10. The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

The Blood of Olympus

Bought this so I can marathon the last two in the series sick of people talking about it and accidentally revealing spoilers without meaning to. I just want to finish and fight the spoilers!

11. Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson's Greek Gods

I think this is told by Percy and I love his voice! So I couldn’t resist! Plus the cover is gorgeous! So yes I bought it plus I love learning about mythology and the world Riordan created!

12. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

13. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

14. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

For these three I’ve been craving a reread of this series, but it’s hard for me to carry physical copies and I also am missing the second one! I love the happiness they bring me and the first one was on sale, so I bought the first three! Harry was also one of my first book boyfriend’s! I could drown in those green eyes and I need to be pulled in and reminded that other people have overcome bad times (even if fictional) and so can I! These were my last buys of the night! I promise!

So bookworms those are the books I splurged on! Break starts after this week, so I am hoping to read more and finish some books I’ve been reading forever! After this month I am trying to stick to audiobooks, library books, and preorders. This isn’t to say I won’t go crazy when they are on sale or I have an itch ( and buying the last 4 HP books!), but I want to be in love with reading again. I feel like a growing TBR is pressure. I will post again soon and hopefully a bit on break! I hope your weekend went well and your week goes great! If any of you are waiting for spring break too we can make it! If you’ve read any of these feel free to comment down below no spoilers please! Which do you think I should read first?

TBR Shame

Hey Bookworms! I know I have been missing lately, so I just wanted to be a bit more active this weekend, or at least attempt to before my homework swallows me whole (I have a midterm and story submission both due Monday)… Anywho I had to reset my nook recently which was quite annoying (and made me want the newest one more), so I had to redo my TBR shelf on it. Well it doesn’t give me a number on the shelf sadly, so since I couldn’t sleep Tuesday night I decided to count all the books on it, and it was pretty bad… Well… It was a 187 (if I counted right) and these are only the books on my nook. These are not including the few paper copies I have strewn about my bed that are calling to be read (and crying for a new home like a bigger bookshelf).

Now in my defense some of these books are books that I want to reread, but still I admit like every other bookworm I have a problem. My professor said when I told her the amount that it was truly nothing, but still it made me feel guilty.  I am not going to go on a ban this month because it is my birthday month, but in May-August my goal is to cut back to preorders and library books! I hate that I can’t say I am going on a ban in April, but it will be one of the last real months of school I like rewarding my hard work, and I know there may be some I stumble into needing. My university student budget dwindles when I am not in school although I will be looking for my first job within the next few months the summer will be used for saving for a safety net. Anywho enough of my senior fears and woes! I thought I’d list the books that I am most ashamed that I haven’t read yet, hope this will be the push I need to read them, and a push out of my slump!

Books that I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Touched Yet

1. The Assassin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clark

The Assassin's Curse

This one has been hyped and it seems like a good adventure book to jump into (or at least I am hoping it is)

2. The Maze Runner by James Dashner

The Maze Runner

I know I know I have mentioned this before, but I need more of a push! I want to read the books before the next two movies come out!

3. Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

Revolution

Now this one I don’t feel as bad about because it is a reread, but I think it will push me back into historical fiction as well as give me the feels I have been looking for.

4. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Outlander

I’ve been craving historical fiction, but as said above need a push into it once more. I have also been craving more diverse settings (i.e. anything not in America). I also want to start reading more adult fiction.

5. Bright Young Things by Anna Godberson

Bright Young Things

I adored studying the 1920’s and I love the fashion and style of it! I hope this brings me into the era.

6. Time Travelers Volume 1 by Caroline B. Cooney

Time Travelers

This was a book I read early when I was either in 8th or 9th grade and it hooked me! Sadly I never found out when volume 2 was going to be released, so I was left on a cliff. Now they have volume 2 on my nook I need to reread this and find out the end of these lives!

7. The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

The Winner's Curse

I have heard so many things about this book, and let’s face it this cover is gorgeous! I just need to shake this slump…

8. The House of Hades by Rick Riordan

The House of Hades

I want to see the end of this series, but it seems a bit slower than the Percy Jackson Series. So I struggle more to get into it even though I adore the characters! I want to get to the end though and see them through

9. Lady Knight by Tamora Pierce

Lady Knight

I want to finish this series as well as go back to my complete adoration of Tamora Pierce! She just writes amazing Heroines!

10. Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Eragon

I read this book in high school, but never got to finish the series, so I hope by rereading the first it will send me into a frenzy for the other ones!

11. Us by David Nicholls

Us

I adored One Day and loved his writing, so I really want to see if it was more than a onetime thing!

12. Lady of the Sea by Rosalind Miles

The Lady of the Sea

Another series I started a while ago, but never finished! I love Tristan and Isolde! Retellings of them and Arthurian tales, so I want to remind myself of that love

13. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The Book Theif

Again I know guys I have mentioned this before, but help push me! Wake me from my slump!

So I know my TBR will probably get bigger after my birthday! I hope it does because I love getting gift cards for my birthday (which is March 18th) buying more! The possibility of devouring books excites me! I am one of the people who loves her birthday because it is a day to celebrate (I don’t plan on being the one who dreads aging)!  I have a book buying problem and the same thing with movies… I believe the first step is facing the problem, and admitting it! So I am hoping that this gives me motivation to devour books again and at least it gives a record of how many I have to face. Have you read any of these books? What do you suggest I try and pick of first? How big is your TBR pile? Have you been in a slump recently? Feel free to share with me down below in the comments bookworms, and I hope you all have a good week!

February Wrap Up and March TBR

Hey bookworms! Sorry this is late, but I haven’t been feeling too well. Now that I am feeling much better here is my February Wrap-Up in which I read 6 books, and what I am reading in March!

February Wrap-Up:

1. Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

Where the Sidewalk Ends

I was feeling a bit nostalgic and felt like a light read so what better than poems that made me giggle as a kid? This book is just as cute and amusing as it was when I was a kid! I gave it 5/5 out of stars!

2. The Ruby Circle By Richelle Mead

The Ruby Circle

I was so sad to see this series end, but it was so good! It was funny and cute encompassing my favorite fictional couple in the world! I went to the signing and heard her read my favorite chapter in the book! This was shorter than I wanted, but it still was in my opinion a good end. I am hoping she will write at least a novella for certain events, but I this book on its own was a 5/5 stars as well.

3. Circles in the Stream (Avalon: Web of Magic #1) By Rachel Roberts

Avalon Circles in the Stream

Another reread from my young age. This was a book I had read in middle or elementary school which I had to give away when I was younger because my mom wanted to encourage me to let go of books I had already read… Yea if you can’t tell I still have not let that go, but I saw a bind-up on book outlet reminding me of the title, so I looked it up on my nook. This book you can tell especially reading it older you can tell who its audience meant for  by the writing, so even though it was still cute it didn’t grab me as it did then. This book was a 3/5 stars still am curious about how it ends, but am not in a rush to because of the writing. If you know younger readers though I definitely recommend it!

 4. The Wizard of Oz By Frank L Baum

Wizard of Oz

This is definitely a book you appreciate more as an older reader because you can dig into the themes deeper as an older reader. I read this book for my Book Critique in my Women’s Traveler class and am glad it was my first read. Some of the things in it I think would have scared as a young reader, but I definitely enjoyed it, and hope to continue the series now that my curiosity about the world of Oz has been magnified. If you plan on reading it I definitely recommend separating the book from the movie. I gave it a 3/5 stars!

5. Elektra Vol. 1: Bloodlines By Haden Blackman

Elektra Volume 1

This was a treat for me because I want to get into reading more graphic novels and comics, so I thought why not start with one of my favorite Marvel movies! This was definitely different though than its film counterpart. The art work, story, and action were still really good even if it was a little darker than I thought it would be. I gave this one a 4/5 stars and I can’t wait for volume 2!

6. Pokémon Adventures Volume 1 By Hidenori Kusaka

Pokemon Volume 1

I am 22 (23 in 7 days!) and am still proudly a Pokémon freak! I’ve been curious about the original story line for a long time, so I gave into the urge and bought volume one on my nook. I totally adored it! It was lengthy and gave me a whole new view on my favorite game/childhood show. Needless to say I will be devouring the rest I love it when mangas give you much more to the story. For those of you that don’t know this story is about Red not Ash and to get the true origins just made me a bigger Pokémon freak and proved my love for it is never going to die! This was 5/5 stars if not more!

March TBR (or what I currently reading)

So I don’t really have a TBR for March since I am kind of in a slump, but here is what I am hoping to read and hopefully finish in March!

1.Unleashed By Nancy Holder

Wolf Springs Chronicles

Yes I have really been reading this for 2 months, but since it’s a paper book I kind of pick it up when I can. It is getting more interesting though, so I think I should have it done in March!

2. A Game of Thrones By George R.R. Martin

A Game of Thrones

I’m doing a buddy read with this one and we’ve both been caught up by school, so it’s been on the side, but can’t wait to keep rereading it. After this weekend I am hoping to get back to it! Buddy Reading definitely makes me eager to finish the rest of the series.

3. Zodiac By Romina Russell

Zodiac

I definitely am enjoying it, but because of reviews I feel I have ruined some of my enthusiasm for this book which I was excited for when its released was talked about. If you pick up this book I definitely recommend going in blind to form your own opinion

4. Bitten by Kelley Armstrong

Bitten

Since I am pouting that I am not in Canada to watch Season 2. I rereading the first one very slowly to fill my craving and then plan on rereading the second book which will hopefully get back into book six which is based again on the pack.

5.  Hood By Emma Donoghue

Hood

I was really craving a book with its setting in Ireland, but since this book deals with death the pacing is a bit slow at times. Not the best thing for a slump, but I still am enjoying it.

6. Evermore by Alyson Noel

Evermore

I really loved this book in high school, so I got the audiobook (which I am in a bit of a phase of buying)! I love revisiting the premise of this book, and audiobooks help me feel I am beating my slump a bit.

7. Eat, Pray, Love By Elizabeth Gilbert

Eat Pray Love

This has been on my TBR forever! Listening to her Tedtalks and my Women Travelers class has made me crave and I picked up this book last night, and I fell into it very easy. I definitely love her voice in this as I had to muffle my giggles.

So that’s what I’ve been up to bookworms! Hope you’re all having a good night! What have you been reading? Have you grabbed any of these books I’ve mentioned? Do you feel reviews can ruin reading some books for you sometimes? Do you know any books set in Ireland to recommend to me? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
