TBR Shame

Hey Bookworms! I know I have been missing lately, so I just wanted to be a bit more active this weekend, or at least attempt to before my homework swallows me whole (I have a midterm and story submission both due Monday)… Anywho I had to reset my nook recently which was quite annoying (and made me want the newest one more), so I had to redo my TBR shelf on it. Well it doesn’t give me a number on the shelf sadly, so since I couldn’t sleep Tuesday night I decided to count all the books on it, and it was pretty bad… Well… It was a 187 (if I counted right) and these are only the books on my nook. These are not including the few paper copies I have strewn about my bed that are calling to be read (and crying for a new home like a bigger bookshelf).

Now in my defense some of these books are books that I want to reread, but still I admit like every other bookworm I have a problem. My professor said when I told her the amount that it was truly nothing, but still it made me feel guilty.  I am not going to go on a ban this month because it is my birthday month, but in May-August my goal is to cut back to preorders and library books! I hate that I can’t say I am going on a ban in April, but it will be one of the last real months of school I like rewarding my hard work, and I know there may be some I stumble into needing. My university student budget dwindles when I am not in school although I will be looking for my first job within the next few months the summer will be used for saving for a safety net. Anywho enough of my senior fears and woes! I thought I’d list the books that I am most ashamed that I haven’t read yet, hope this will be the push I need to read them, and a push out of my slump!

Books that I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Touched Yet

1. The Assassin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clark

The Assassin's Curse

This one has been hyped and it seems like a good adventure book to jump into (or at least I am hoping it is)

2. The Maze Runner by James Dashner

The Maze Runner

I know I know I have mentioned this before, but I need more of a push! I want to read the books before the next two movies come out!

3. Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

Revolution

Now this one I don’t feel as bad about because it is a reread, but I think it will push me back into historical fiction as well as give me the feels I have been looking for.

4. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Outlander

I’ve been craving historical fiction, but as said above need a push into it once more. I have also been craving more diverse settings (i.e. anything not in America). I also want to start reading more adult fiction.

5. Bright Young Things by Anna Godberson

Bright Young Things

I adored studying the 1920’s and I love the fashion and style of it! I hope this brings me into the era.

6. Time Travelers Volume 1 by Caroline B. Cooney

Time Travelers

This was a book I read early when I was either in 8th or 9th grade and it hooked me! Sadly I never found out when volume 2 was going to be released, so I was left on a cliff. Now they have volume 2 on my nook I need to reread this and find out the end of these lives!

7. The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

The Winner's Curse

I have heard so many things about this book, and let’s face it this cover is gorgeous! I just need to shake this slump…

8. The House of Hades by Rick Riordan

The House of Hades

I want to see the end of this series, but it seems a bit slower than the Percy Jackson Series. So I struggle more to get into it even though I adore the characters! I want to get to the end though and see them through

9. Lady Knight by Tamora Pierce

Lady Knight

I want to finish this series as well as go back to my complete adoration of Tamora Pierce! She just writes amazing Heroines!

10. Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Eragon

I read this book in high school, but never got to finish the series, so I hope by rereading the first it will send me into a frenzy for the other ones!

11. Us by David Nicholls

Us

I adored One Day and loved his writing, so I really want to see if it was more than a onetime thing!

12. Lady of the Sea by Rosalind Miles

The Lady of the Sea

Another series I started a while ago, but never finished! I love Tristan and Isolde! Retellings of them and Arthurian tales, so I want to remind myself of that love

13. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The Book Theif

Again I know guys I have mentioned this before, but help push me! Wake me from my slump!

So I know my TBR will probably get bigger after my birthday! I hope it does because I love getting gift cards for my birthday (which is March 18th) buying more! The possibility of devouring books excites me! I am one of the people who loves her birthday because it is a day to celebrate (I don’t plan on being the one who dreads aging)!  I have a book buying problem and the same thing with movies… I believe the first step is facing the problem, and admitting it! So I am hoping that this gives me motivation to devour books again and at least it gives a record of how many I have to face. Have you read any of these books? What do you suggest I try and pick of first? How big is your TBR pile? Have you been in a slump recently? Feel free to share with me down below in the comments bookworms, and I hope you all have a good week!

  2. Heyyyyy HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! (late) Hope you had awesome day and got plenty of gift cards to buy new books! 🙂
Outlander and Eragon are ones I’d recommend you to start with .Also if you hit one find the nice corner to read and cleaning helps me read somehow (it’s weird really…) I’ve been in reading slump for ages…and library wants its books back TT___TT

My TBR….hahahahahaaa let’s not speak of it XD I think it’s much more than 187 books. I have some on Goodreads, then tons in my head…it’s just so hard.

Good luck with your studies also, I’m in last year in uni and should write thesis and alll so I can understand the stress!

    • I can’t always go off my goodreads because I also use it for books I want to buy. I don’t count those as tbr until I’ve bought them…

Thanks! Sadly not as much as I would like I bought video games instead because I got cash. When I receive money for birthdays it doesn’t go to books cause I’m not good at keeping track of spending that way XD but I did get things I needed for my birthday and then used the rest to take mom&sis to Insurgent at the luxury theater! My book buddy Paige sent me a book though!

My slumps I think are caused by my required reading. When I have time I’ve been reading mangas and audiobooks! School being almost over is scary though =\ I wish you a ton of luck with your studies too =D

      • Thanks! 🙂

Ahaha well video games…are almost as enjoyable as books. Currently I don’t own any kind of console to play with otherwise I would. I found out (after mostly following international social media) that Insurgent is only out in Finland sometime in April o.O I seriously can’t wait that long TT_TT

  3. I’m currently reading The Winner’s Curse, and it’s just great! I definitely recommend Eragon, that is, if you are the adventurous-legends reader type 🙂
