Hey bookworms! It’s that time of the week again! It’s time for a Top Ten Tuesday post. This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish in which we are given a weekly topic in which we answer with the our Top Ten Books that go with said topic. This weeks Topic is Top Ten Books on your summer TBR! So without further ado these are the books (in no particular order) that will take me traveling this summer since I have neither a TARDIS nor enough money for a plane ticket! As always the links are in the titles =)
The Books That Will Take Me Traveling This Summer
1. The Call of the Wild by Jack London
I read half of this book when I was younger, but lost it in one of the times we’ve almost moved. I bought this a few months ago off of amazon because I saw this edition and could not resist it! I’m hoping during these hot desert day the cold setting of Alaska will keep me cool!!
2. Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead
I picked this up and February and I need something to hold me over until Soundless gets released! I hope it is as amazing as my love for her other work.
3. The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge
I want to revisit some of my childhood comforts and I feel the beautiful setting will definitely transport me somewhere else. I am hoping it will help me through my current hard time like it has many times when I was younger!
4. The First Three Books in the Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
A setting to definitely get me away from the stress and maybe facing dementors will be less scary than my own issues. Afterall Hogwarts is home and I am hoping it will make me feel safe
5. Inkspell and Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke
Another Childhood series, but this one is unfinished so I really want to get to it this summer!
6. Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynn Jones
Another world I adore in beauty and idea. I just want to get lost in somewhere more fantastical this summer!
7. The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
Another reread and I want to see if I can get the other two at the library to finish this series as well.
8. The Tiger’s Curse Saga by Colleen Houck
Although the last book in this series tears apart my feels the adventure will make me feel like I get to explore this summer
9. Broken by Kelley Armstrong
These books can tend to be a little scary for me, but I am hoping to pull from Elena’s strength. Plus Season two of Bitten is over and I need something to hold me off till season 3 comes out!
10. Us by David Nicholls
I love this cover and sadly my new nook changed it to a hideous one… Moving on from that point everyone always says that summer is a time for contemporary reading! My rereading of One Day a few months ago, so I’m hoping Nicholls can work his magic again.
Those are my top choices Bookworms! I know I cheated a bit by doing series, but I couldn’t just put one. This summer for me is about finding comfort and safety. It is about traveling through my books and trust me these are just tip of the iceberg. I really want to read a lot over the summer and I am ahead of my goodreads goal. I think 30 books over these next 2 months would be a good start. Have you read any of these? Are there any specific types of books you reach for in summer or bad times? Which are your top 10 books? Link and let me know down below. I am gonna get working on another post, but I hope you all have an amazing Tuesday. Happy reading!
A great list! I LOVE Howl’s Moving Castle. It’s one of the books I re-read whenever I need cheering up 🙂

Glad I wasn’t the only one who bent the rules! I would definitely like to know if you think the setting in the Tiger’s Curse series is accurate. Since you said you live in India right? This book really wanted to make me visit one day as well as the other settings in Asia it portrays. Thank you for the comment. =) I will go check and see how you bent the rules =P

I really want to learn to write a narrator like he does. So this will be half for fun and half to study. Thank you so much for the comment =)

Such great choices! I’d love to make time for a Golden Compass reread. I finally picked up a copy of Howl’s Moving Castle this year, but still haven’t read it. Maybe it needs to go in my summer travel bag too! Looks like you have a lot of great books here. I hope you enjoy!

If your copy of Howl’s is like my paper copy it’s a good purse book! I plan to read most of these in July because I’m feeling slumpy =\ Thanks for commenting!
