September Haul: Books, Movies, and More

Hey bookworms! I promise I will learn the swing of work and blogging soon. It’s just hard to be on the computer on my weekends, when that is what I do all day for work. Good news is I plan on getting glasses soon, so that  should make being on it for work and home easier.

But anywho I thought it would be fun to show one of the benefits of having a job. Which is treating myself to stuff like my addictions every once in a while. So here is what I treated myself to in September!

September Haul

The Books:

Saga Volume 6 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Citrus Volume 5 by Saburo Uto

The Fangirl Life: A Guide to All the Feels and Learning How to Deal by Kathleen Smith

There is an interesting story with these first three… Well not funny exactly I originally ordered copies of these in March, but they were shipped to my old address and never got forwarded… I hope who ever is living there is enjoying the books, so I had a coupon and decided to get them all over again. I am sure they are worth it though.

Twilight of Avalon by Anna Elliot

The Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz

The Isle of the Lost

The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough

The Movies:

The Boy and the Beast

The Boy and the Beast

If you’re curious about this movie I did do a review on this movie which I gushed for… Here

The Intern

What a Girl Wants/Chasing Liberty

Raising Helen

No Reservations

Laws of Attraction

Ramen Girl

So if you haven’t figured it out I have a movie addiction on top of these movies I also bought a movie binder that holds 400 DVDs… Yeah I was a little bad, but most excluding the first were $10 and under! So no regrets… For now XD

Lastly I bought this adorable and super soft Umbreon pillow pet at the Tokyo Discount store near my house. He is one of my favorite eeveelutions and I couldn’t resist buying him. Now if only they had an Espeon then I would have my favorite Pokemon Ship. May they will one day.

I’m doing good at savings, but sometimes when I’ve had a hard day at work small things such as books or movies on sale makes it a little better. Working at a call center isn’t easy as a first job, but it is teaching me skills I can carry to a job I feel passionate about. There are rough days, but there are also days where I really like my job. It is a stepping stone to what and where I want to be in life.

Have you read or watched any of these? What is your favorite pokemon? What do you indulge in when you’re feeling stressed. Let me know! I miss you all and now I am off to schedule some more posts for you all! Happy Reading and Watching!

Library Book Haul and a Gift from a Book Friend

Hey bookworms! I went to the library today and got 5 books I had on hold, so I thought I would share them with you. I love scanning books at the library, so I’m getting more excited to go each time. I would’ve taken pictures, but we haven’t had the best lighting today with the gloomy day, so I am just going to include the covers from goodreads. I also got a gift from a book friend and want to share that (I did manage a picture of that though). I hope you guys enjoy.

Library Book Haul

1.Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal by G. Willow Willson (author) and Adrian Alphona (artist)

Ms Marvel Vol 1

I already read this and really liked it! The art style was really good, but i am picky so it was a 4 out of 5 stars for me and the last part confused me a little.

2. Vampire Academy: The Graphic Novel by Richelle Mead (Author), Emma Vieceli (Illustrator), and Leigh Dragoon (Adapter)

Vampire Academy Graphic Novel

I finished this one as well and it is an example of why I am hesitant to get library books… I was turning the page and at least 4 pages came out. I had a little freak out moment before continuing. I am going to have to walk it in when I turn it in… Getting past that I loved the art work and how the character expressions were portrayed. I was a little sad to see some of the storyline being cut, but overall it made me fall in love with the VA series more… If that is possible. This was a 5 out of 5 stars for me!

4. The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

The Princess Diaries

This old book is getting a lot of hype I decided to check into it because I also loved the movie. I got this one in audio book because I am very addicted to audio books at the moment and this one is only 5 discs, so I could finish it in a day =)

5. Daughter of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

Daughter of Blood and Starlight

I did not expect this book to be this huge! I read the first in audio book, so I didn’t get the sense of how big it was. I am eager to see what happens next, but I do wish the library owned the audio book because the narrator is the same as the first and I enjoyed her first.

The Gift I Received

As you guys may or may not know I have been trying to be more active in the book community. One way of doing this is through twitter. I have felt the support tenfold and made a few friends from all over! It is proof that books bring us together from all over the world. One of my new friends Angela who has a booktube channel offered to send me a gift, since she had it done for her. That is the amazing thing about the book community to make others feel more welcome. She sent me these two things:

Gifts from Angela

The book an Ember in the Ashes was so I can participate in a readalong with her and another bookworm on the 17th. Feel free to tweet me at @CKReads if you want to join us To be honest I am a little nervous to tackle this book, but I am excited to have interaction as I read. She also gifted me one of my favorite movies! I adore Jude Law and am so happy to have this. I plan to return the favor as soon as I am able! Even if you don’t give gifts it is good to have people to lean on at any moment. I definitely want to talk more about the community, but that is for another post I am going to host with The Blogger The Paige-Turner, so look for that soon. Well that is all I have to say for now bookworms! How do you feel about tackling hyped books? Have you had any bad library experiences? What are you reading next? Let me know in the comments!

My New Toy and Mini Library Haul (Weekend Wrap-up)

Hey Bookworms! So as you know I am done with my semester! I got my grades and did very well! I got 2 A’s, a B, and a pass. I have had my Nook HD for 2 years and my warranty was about to be up, so I got myself a little something as a reward for my hard work:

The Nook Tablet Samsung S4! It is so pretty… B&N had a deal of $50 off when you trade in your old Nook. I am very happy with it! It is lighter and faster. The only issue I have with it is not being able to play my Tsum Tsum game for some reason it runs super slow on it. The longer battery life definitely cancels the pouting over my game. Another plus is the charger for my Nook works in my Phone too. I am just so happy to not have to worry about something happening to my nook now that I have this one with the new 2 year warranty. I use my Nook a lot because it is easier on my hands and I don’t have to worry about my hands wearing at the pages. It is also easier on  me to carry because I am not suppose to carry weight around. I do feel a little guilty for spending a good amount of money, but I always do whenever I spend a good amount. The case was worth it to because it has a stand in the back to hold it up for a lazy reader. The camera makes Skype doable and I just adore it and earned it!

I also stopped by the Library to pick up a book I had on hold and I also grabbed another that I’ve been eyeing for a while!

1. We Were Liars by E Lockhart

I’ve started this and it definitely keeps you hooked! I am definitely not bored of it yet. Only on chapter 20, but am definitely curious to what happens next!

2. Everneath by Brodi Ashton

So bookworms, I am hoping getting books from the library will keep me frugal when I feel like buying books! Definitely going to try and stick to my unread books at home, but I know that itch will pop up with no matter how many books I have. How do you reward yourself grades? Do you ever feel guilty getting something big for yourself as a reward? I really want to be able to feel no shame because I work hard for rewards, but we’ll see… I also dyed my hair this weekend! I am a redhead again! I know my lighting isn’t the best, but I will include two pictures below. Let me know what you did this weekend! Hope you had fun! Happy reading! My May Wrap-Up will be up very soon. =)

Library Book Haul and #INeedtoReadathon TBR

Hey Bookworms I hope you don’t mind the multiple posts in a day, but I found this stuff out on short notice! I also like the fact that blogging keeps my mind busy! So I found out about another readathon! I also went to the library for the first time this summer! Trying to keep on my ban besides my subscription box and occasional e-book buys as long they are under $5 dollars. I am a broke college student what can I say? Although I am hoping to find a part time job over the summer I plan to put most of it in savings, but I will talk more about that process in a life update because it could be helpful. Any who I will start with my library Haul and then move to the Readathon info =)

Library Book Haul

(Sorry for bad quality in advance my phone isn’t the best and hope you don’t mind seeing glimpses my lap don’t really have a good background at the moment XD)

1. The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern

Daughter of Smoke and Bone was my last audio book on my nook app, and I’m already feigning for another! I also want to read more of Cecelia Ahern, so I hope this was a good choice to go with. I also hope the CD isn’t too scratched…

2. The Orphan Queen by Jodie Meadows

Honestly this book interested me since she talked about it at the book festival last year! I also saw someone haul it today, so it made me itch to request it.

3. Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions by Kelley Armstrong and a lot of authors!

Honestly this is a book I’ve wanted for a very long while! I am super excited to read it, and honestly might skip to her story first. First time I’ve read an anthology like this, so I am a little nervous but I hope I like it. If I don’t at least I didn’t buy it =P

4. All Our Pretty Songs by Sarah McCarry

I started reading a preview of this on Scribd and wanted to finish it! Happily this book is the shortest, so this will be the one I read first!

#INeedtoReadathon TBR

So I found out about this readathon this morning! It is hosted by my favorite booktuber and it’s just meant for you to push yourself to read the rest of the things you want in May! Here is the intro Video and my TBR after:

1. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

A Game of Thrones

2. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Thorns and Roses

3. Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour

Everything Leads to You

4. All Our Pretty Songs by Sarah McCarry

Well Bookworms that is my TBR I’m trying to keep it short and sweet! I need to review Under the Lights because it’s my Netgalley ARC. The rest are the books I am currently reading. I encourage you to join because readathons are fun and a great way to interact with other readers! Happy reading and let me know if you read any of these books and what you thought!
