Weekend Wrap-Up with a Note to my Readers

Hey bookworms! I just felt the need to post since I haven’t much this week. I’ve been letting my computer rest, so I just thought I’d mention what I’ve been up to this weekend (which has been pretty lazy) and then at the end a note to you all =)

Weekend Wrap-Up:Books I Read

1. Amulet Volume 1: The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi

 Amulet Vol 1

This was a cute book, but the art work wasn’t my favorite so it was a 4 out of 5 stars for me!

1. Enthralled by Kelley Armstrong and others

Honestly I only read 2 stories I wasn’t feeling into reading a collection. Both of them were 5 stars though: 1. Giovanni’s Farewell by Claudia Gray 2. Facing Facts [Darkest Powers] by Kelley Armstrong. I will probably try and pick this up in the fall, but didn’t have the attention span right now.

2. If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern

If You Could See Me Now

I started this audiobook on Saturday and fell in love and am still listening to it but hope to finish it tonight! I love that it has 2 narrators and just the concept is so interesting. Definitely recommend it!

What I Watched

Spy poster

I went to see Spy with my family on Saturday and really liked it and the cast was amazing. This was a 4 out of 5 for me and the theater closer to my house now has luxury seats as well, so it was a very comfortable experience. Can’t wait to see more movies there over the summer =)

My Note to You All

I am really appreciative to you all. You guys are the reason I love doing this, and even more I love reaching out in the community. You guys have seen me on bad days and cheered me on for my hard work. I just wanted to take a minute to say how much it means to me. For those bloggers who haven’t joined twitter I highly recommend it because you make great friends surprisingly fast. Books bring us all together, so keep connecting over them in every way. They help me connect. My blog has kept me going in this rough patch in life. I am so happy to have reached 200 followers! I just can’t believe it. I am grateful for all my readers and the people who have been commenting and tweeting. I love feeling a part of a community. For those of you who tend to be shy commenting on blogs I recommend doing it because sometimes your comments can make someone’s day. As a thank you to you all I plan on hosting a give away very soon. I promise to post more. There is another post coming after this one! Happy reading!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’d Love to See Hypnotize Me on the Big Screen

T10 2

Hey Bookworms! Sorry for another late post, but my computer has decided to have issues today. It is getting older and I think it heard that I want to replace it, so I think it is rebelling against me… Any who today’s post is another Top Ten Tuesday post a weekly meme in which we are given a theme or question and must respond with the top 10 books that correspond for us! This meme is hosted by the lovely blog The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s question is what Top Ten books would you like to see come to life on screen as either shows or movies? I am going to do 5 Movies and 5 Shows! At the end I will also include my favorite adaptions. So let’s get started!

Top 5 Books I’d Love to See Hypnotize Me on the Big Screen: Movies

1. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The Night Circus

Anyone who knows I love this book knows how much I want to theme everything after this book! I would love to see the magic come to the silver screen and I would even love to be an extra as a Rever! I think a few more years and special effects could make this book an amazing movie! I think the HP set designers would make the tents lovely!

2. Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

I think this would be a really touching and interesting piece to see on screen. The themes would really come through strong and maybe bring a few tears forth

3. If You Could be Mine by Sara Farizan

If You Could be Mine

Honestly hits a lot of topics especially about accepting yourself this would be another movie to break your heart, but a movie you could connect with the characters with.

4. Everything Leads to you by Nina LaCour

Everything Leads to You

I think this would be beautiful and cute story to see and make you melt as well as give an inside to movies. I finished this recently and loved it!

5. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Cruel Beauty

I don’t think Beauty and the Beast gets enough adaption to screen because Cinderella mostly dominates retellings and I loved this world and would love to see a not perfect heroine who is not all good come to life on screen.

Top 5 Books I’d Love to See Hypnotize Me on the Big Screen: Shows

1. Vampire Academy and/or Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
Vampire AcademyBloodlines

I know the movie flopped (even if I thought it was awesome) I’d love to see the school aspect and my favorite characters on screen especially Adrian!

2. The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

The SelectionThe EliteThe One

I know this is optioned for a movie, but it would be so much more fun to see this as a show. We’d get to know the characters better and get to feel more. Get to see the little details more intimately.

3. House of Night series by PC and Kristin Cast

I know many people don’t care for how long this series is, but I think as as a show they can focus more on the major plot points plus it is another school atmosphere I’d love to explore.

4. Raised by Wolves Series Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Raised by Wolves

I didn’t liked the last book, but I would love to see Bryn’s life in the pack and all the details. Plus I love werewolves a werewolf book had to make it on my list!

5. Paranormalcy Series by Kiersten White

I would love to see Evie’s life in the agency and her interactions with those she captures! As well as discovering who she is

My Favorite Adaptions

1. The Bitten TV Show

I just am sooo in love with this series and it is my not so guilty pleasure! So Happy it got signed for season 3!

2, Howl’s Moving Castle

The book has more world building to it and has a slightly different setting, but both are adorable to be engrossed in. It has a beautiful world!

3. PS I Love You

I read the book after and I know the setting is Americanized, but Ahern was on board with it I think the tragedy in this movie still played out beautifully! Plus it has Gerard Butler need I say more? ^_~

Well bookworms those were my choices. What were yours? Link me yours down below. What are your favorite adaptions I am always looking for more movie recommendations! I just can’t do scary. I know this is up a little late, but technology wasn’t my friend today. Hope it will be nice for my upcoming posts! This post did inspire me to write something similar to this topic. So look for that on Monday! Happy reading!

Movie Monday Fangirling Over: The Age of Adaline!

mm (2)

Hey bookworms! I know this is a little different, but this is going to be the first post in a little theme on my blog. Most of these posts will be on my views of book to movie adaptions I have read and seen, but this first one is a little different because I wish this movie was a book! On Saturday I finally went to see The Age of Adaline!!! So this will be half fangirling/ half review because I’m not really sure of how to review a movie. Let’s get this post started.

The Age of Adaline

Movie Title: The Age of Adaline

Film Company: Lionsgate

Release Date: April 24, 2015

Rated:  PG-13

Genre: Romance, Drama

Director: Lee Toland Krieger

Starring: Blake Lively, Michiel Huisman, Kathy Baker, Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn, Amanda Crew, and Kathy Baker

My Review/ Fangirling

So I will try to split this up in three parts: My Excitement, My Experience, and My Feelings afterwards which will hold my rating. Hopefully this way this post will make sense.

My Excitement

I’ve been stalking this movie since I first heard about it last summer. Oh and I also ADORE Blake Lively! I will see anything she is in! Even if it was a silent film! She is just stunning!!

The male love interest was yummy too. I have a thing for guys with long curly hair and blue/green eyes!… I mean look at him! Just mmm…

Michiel Huisman and Blake

I blame Gerard Butler for starting that obsession but that’s a bit off topic. The first time I stumbled upon it I was mesmerized by the premise. I love the idea of another life, and although this movie isn’t about reincarnation it is pretty close. I fell in love with seeing each outfit she wore in the preview and the way her life changed. It was about an unusual life that was more than a mundane. It had the draw I needed much like the books I love right now. I received tickets to see it at an early screening, but everyone I knew was out of town. The weekend after my sister had to get a cast. Then the weekend of release I was low on Funds and we needed to go to the luxury theater, so she could put her foot up on the reclining seats. The theater was sold out on all shows! So when I had the money I was excited to go May 2nd and I was giddy!

My Experience

Comfy seats, my pizza, popcorn, and my soda and a comfy recliner seat I was so ready. The fact that the bits were narrated was so appealing to me especially because I have been on an audiobook kick. Blake Lively’s voice had a slight accent that just hinted her lives. The costuming and the settings were so amazing it made you truly believe in all of this! The themes in this movie are amazing and the emotions were strong and inspired the emotions for my own writing it made. The love scenes didn’t lack anything. They felt genuine and for me that is very important! I really do over analyze love scenes when they don’t seem real I growl at the TV. And Blake Lively’s laugh is one of my favorites so her emotions overall were very believable. I just loved the pacing too it took time where it needed and sped too.

My Feelings

Honestly this movie was a 5/5 stars for me! It was amazing story telling, and I already want to see it again! If you loved the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button I think you will enjoy this movie. I think this is a story that will appeal to readers because to me it was what it would be like if you could project the story out of the book. This is an original film and what I mean by original is it was not based off a book! It makes me a bit sad because I would love to read it as one. This movie definitely made it to my onto my favorites list and you can bet I will be buying the DVD! I think this will be one of my comfort movies. So if you want to take a step back in time check this movie out or if you simply want to feel some feels!

Well that’s it bookworms please tell me if you liked the style of this review. It’s the first time I reviewed a movie, so any feedback will help! I plan on doing another one of these soon I just have to pick an adaption! If you would want me to do non adapted movies let me know? Have you seen this movie? Do you agree or disagree with my thoughts? Do you plan on seeing this movie? Feel free to comment down below, and for those of you who haven’t seen the trailer. I’ll include it for you. Have a good week bookworms and happy reading!

P.S. I recently bought some items to treat myself pre-finals. Would you guys be interest in a haul? It isn’t bookish stuff, but it is cute and fun stuff. Let me know in the comments please!
