My Top Books of 2017: The 7 that rose above the rest!

Hey Bookworms! I hope you all are having a good and safe new years eve and for those who are in the future I hope 2018 is treating you well! Well I woke up, at 6 AM PDT, because my internal clock is so mean… And I turned on Youtube and was watching videos and ran across peoples top books of 2017. I was hesitating doing this because not a lot of books have made it to my top, but the ones that did really left a mark. I thought they deserved to be shared, so lets get started. By the way these are in no particular order.

My Top 7 of 2017

1.  Lost in a Book by Jennifer Donnelly

Lost in a Book

I really loved how this book used the love and death as personification as well as taking how readers to slip into books into an actual thing. This also gave the new movie such good back story it felt like actual back story. 5 out of 5 stars! Borrowed from the library on Audiobook and I definitely need my own copy!

2. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Strange the Dreamer

I loved her previous series The Daughter of Smoke and Bone and happily this book did not let me down as a follow-up new series. This book was nearly pure poetry in it’s prose and dang does she know how to write a kiss!

3. We are Okay by Nina LaCour

We are Okay

This was another author that didn’t let me down with a follow-up novel. Her prose captured my heart. This was about breaking your heart and healing it again.

4. The Wolf Boy is Mine Vol 4 by  Youko Nogiri

The Wolf Boy is Mine Vol 4

This series restored my faith in manga and in love as cheesy as it sounds. The only drawback was it was too short. I am happy with the ending but I wanted more of these characters!

5. Mastiff  by Tamora Pierce

Mastiff

Another great end to a series and god what a plot twist that I didn’t see coming! I also see Tamora Pierce as a comfort author picking her up is a guaranteed good read.

6. Everland by Wendy Spinale

Everland

For anyone who knows me will know I am Peter Pan trash and I will read or watch any kind of retelling. This was not a let down at all I definitely loved the twist in the setting of this book. If you love Peter Pan, steampunk, and books in the period of WW2 this book is for you. I kinda hate that I didn’t find it sooner.

7.  American Gods by Neil Gaiman

American Gods

This book had it’s slow parts and lost me a few times which it why it was a 4 out of 5 stars, but Neil Gaiman’s prose and humor is the best thing. He has a way of making crazy things make sense. After reading the book maybe I can give the show another shot.

Well Bookworms those are the books that made their mark on my year. Did any of these make your list? Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts on them? What books were on your list? Let me know and link them in the comments below. I hope you all have a wonderful New Years, stay safe, and as always Happy Reading!

wp-1448488519243.jpg

Hey bookworms! I am almost catching up on this challenge! Yay me! If you want to see my 1st Day and go on from there I will link it. This challenge was created by Annreads on Instagram and I thank her for letting me do this challenge because it has been a way to keep my blog active as well as my brain! So let me get started!

Day 13: Favorite BFF’s

Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan

Unspoken

Kami and Angela

Let’s face it we all need a BFF we drag into adventure and I relate to Angela’s need for a push sometimes. I hope to finish this series next year to see if my love of these 2 friends remain the same

Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor

Dream's of God's and Monsters

Zuzana and Karu

Now I know I raved on Zuz on Day 7, but I really do adore this duo! They have such a solid friendship. The constant support of each other and the way they joke and play! I’ve loved them from the first instance they were together!

Bridge to Teribithia by Katherine Paterson

Bridge to Terabithia

Jessie Aarons and Leslie Burke

Honestly it was nice to see a friendship between a boy and girl, so young. Someone to push you to be better it is amazing read on how two different minds can push you to grow!

Day 14: Books that Deserve More Attention

Pivot Point by Kasie West

Pivot Point

Need something to curve your craving until the next X-Men movie? Well this is the book I recommend. I know it came out 2 years ago, but I feel it didn’t get the attention it needed because I wasn’t even aware of it until the my lovely Book BFF Paige sent it to me! I got to the end and couldn’t believe I hadn’t found it sooner. I plan to read the second as soon as I finish the reread I am on Scribd as well as some paper books that have been waiting for me. Definitely kept me guessing!

Inspire by Cora Carmack

Inspire

Honestly my favorite Cora Carmack read because it took such a twist with Mythology and the muses! I definitely plan a reread before book two comes out!

Citrus Vol 1 by Saburo Uta

Citrus Vol 1

Now just like the cover the content is a bit explicit, so be warned, but I must spread the love for this. I am a manga lover and have been from a young age, but I am one of the few girls that does not have a love for yaoi. It just isn’t my thing, but I do have a good love for yuri with a good amount of angst and tension. I want them to work for a relationship. Sadly their aren’t many Yuri (girl love) manga out in the world, so I have to spread the love with this one. I really am addicted and want to know what happens next with each volume!

Well bookworms that is all for this post! Did you grow to love any new fictional friendships this year? Which were they? Do you know books that need more love? Know any yuri manga I should check out? How about any books that remind you of X-Men? Any X-Men reader fans out there or am I a lone mutant lover? Have you read any of these books if so share your thoughts with me on them in the comments! Happy Reading!

My Ambiguous August TBR!

August TBR

Hey Bookworms! It is finally time for my TBR! I have been thinking over it for a while because I didn’t read many of the books from My July TBR… So the title for this TBR will hopefully make up for it because I discovered I have become a more of a mood reader lately. I want to read one thing one minute and another the next! So my TBR isn’t going to be too ambitious because I start my last semester on the 24th. I know school will only take up the last week of August, but better safe than sorry. So any who, let’s get started and talk about the books that are on my mind now!

My August TBR

1.  The Rest of The Princess Diaries Series by Meg Cabot

Princess on the Brink Princess Mia Forever Princess Royal Wedding

Hope you guys don’t mind the variety of covers! I am currently listening to Princess on the Brink and it already has me giggling. I am reading this series through my Scribd subscription which when on a book buying ban or a bad library is worth it! They don’t have Princess Mia and Forever Princess on audiobook though, so those will be read through the e-books. Finishing the last the Royal Wedding via audiobook once more and I can’t wait to see how all the characters will continue to grow.

2. The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows

The Orphan Queen

I plan on starting and finishing this book this weekend. It is due next week, so I want to get it done this time!

3. Blue Moon by Alyson Noel

Blue Moon

I know I know I have had this book on my last 2 tbrs! I will finish it by Friday though because that is when it is due! I am going to get back to reading it after this post.

4. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

The Wrath and The Dawn

Another book I plan on starting this one this weekend too because it’s due on the 18th. It is a little big, so the sooner I start it the quicker I can get it done because I can’t renew it because other people are waiting for it.

5. Hot Blooded by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie

Hot Blooded

Another book I’ve had on my TBR for a while, but I definitely need to read it soon! It is a library book and sadly it is not mine to take my time with…

6. Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Tiger Lily

Another one I haven’t gotten to this summer, but I really want to try it! It is getting a lot of love this summer and I want to love it too!

7. Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck

Tiger's Curse

I want to read Reawakened Houck’s new book when it comes out, but I want to get reacquainted with her writing. I also really miss Kishan! I want to travel through this book too.

8. Second Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares

The Second Summer of the Sisterhood

I want to continue my reread of this series as a listen. I want to reconnect with these girls who I connect with.

9. Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott

Fire and Flood

I bought the e-book last month and I am very excited to read it. The premise has me very curious, but I hope it is fast paced!

10. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

I’m hoping reading this will make my last semester of college less scary.. I mean if Harry faced Voldemort at 11; I can handle the “real” world right? I hope so…

11. Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Nightshade

Honestly I am craving a reread and a strong female alpha, so I want to reread this. Plus it is one of my favorite series.

12. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

Daughter of Blood and Starlight

Another e-book I got on sale and I am super excited to continue this series! I adored the first book, so I cannot wait to see what happens next!

13.Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern

Thanks for the Memories

I am dying to continue on my Ahern kick! This is one of the audiobooks available through Scribd and I need more Ahern!

14.  Broken by Kelley Armstrong

Broken

Another one that has been lingering on TBR too, but I know if I don’t get it done by the end of summer. It will have to wait until a break.

Well bookworms! That is some of the books I hope to read, but who knows if I will stick to it. My goal for the month as far as the number of books I want to read is 14. I’ve already read 3 books, so I think I can reach it! Have you read any of these? What is on your TBR? What is your monthly goal? Do rereads tear out your heart like they did the first time? Feel free to let me know in the comments! Happy Reading!
