September Haul: Books, Movies, and More

Hey bookworms! I promise I will learn the swing of work and blogging soon. It’s just hard to be on the computer on my weekends, when that is what I do all day for work. Good news is I plan on getting glasses soon, so that  should make being on it for work and home easier.

But anywho I thought it would be fun to show one of the benefits of having a job. Which is treating myself to stuff like my addictions every once in a while. So here is what I treated myself to in September!

September Haul

The Books:

Saga Volume 6 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Citrus Volume 5 by Saburo Uto

The Fangirl Life: A Guide to All the Feels and Learning How to Deal by Kathleen Smith

There is an interesting story with these first three… Well not funny exactly I originally ordered copies of these in March, but they were shipped to my old address and never got forwarded… I hope who ever is living there is enjoying the books, so I had a coupon and decided to get them all over again. I am sure they are worth it though.

Twilight of Avalon by Anna Elliot

The Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz

So if you haven’t figured it out I have a movie addiction on top of these movies I also bought a movie binder that holds 400 DVDs… Yeah I was a little bad, but most excluding the first were $10 and under! So no regrets… For now XD

Lastly I bought this adorable and super soft Umbreon pillow pet at the Tokyo Discount store near my house. He is one of my favorite eeveelutions and I couldn’t resist buying him. Now if only they had an Espeon then I would have my favorite Pokemon Ship. May they will one day.

I’m doing good at savings, but sometimes when I’ve had a hard day at work small things such as books or movies on sale makes it a little better. Working at a call center isn’t easy as a first job, but it is teaching me skills I can carry to a job I feel passionate about. There are rough days, but there are also days where I really like my job. It is a stepping stone to what and where I want to be in life.

Have you read or watched any of these? What is your favorite pokemon? What do you indulge in when you’re feeling stressed. Let me know! I miss you all and now I am off to schedule some more posts for you all! Happy Reading and Watching!

Life Update and Weekly Reads

Hey Bookworms! Miss me??? I know I’ve been MIA, but I’m still adjusting to the working world… Honestly my days off aren’t used for much more other than sleep and maybe a trip to the grocery store. I’m hoping I’ll have more energy this week though because my schedule got changed to 8-5 pm Tuesday-Saturday, but long story short I get more sleep and I don’t have to wake up at 3 am to get ready for work. I can’t tell you where I’m working, but it is a call center job and most days besides the cranky callers I love helping people.

As for other stuff although having a job is a good thing it may mean longer to save for my own place because I will have to pay for medical insurance now… Which also means adding to how long it takes for Grad School. Every day is still a bit of a struggle for me but I’m trying to take it day by day and week by week and trying to see some bright spots.

Like I’ve made a new friend who lives close to me and I love that she’s bookish! I can pile books on her bit by bit.

But anywho lets get on to the books. Since I probably won’t get to do a Friday Reads with my schedule the way it is for a few weeks. I decided to do a Weekly Reads, so I can still share with you all what I’m trying to read this week. So let’s get started!

Weekly Reads

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, Jack Thorne

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

This is slow reading for me because my post office held it hostage for 2 days, so I’m reading it in between resting, and I plan to read it on my lunch hour too. No spoilers please because I’m only on page 80ish.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

A Thousand Pieces of You

This will be my audiobook listen for the bus for the first half of the week. I’m enjoying the concept so far, but very few books have left a mark on me this year with my mood, so we’ll see most books have earned a 3.5 (aka a 4 stars on Goodreads from me) I am glad I am reading it after the hype though

Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge

Crimson Bound

This will be my other audiobook. I do have high hopes for it since Cruel Beauty was my favorite of last year. Hey I can hope!

Well that’s all for now Bookworms! It is time for me to head to bed although I am a little nervous for tomorrow since it’s our first day without our wonderful mentors. I am just taking this week day by day and doing my best to help each person. Anywho have you read any of these books? What were your thoughts? Any tips for how to blog around working? Let me know in the comments down below. I need all the help I can get please! Happy Reading!

Genrethon: Day Three Update Along with a Slightly Nervous Rant!

Hey bookworms! I decided to post an update on how far I’ve gotten in this readathon because I need a distraction. Why the need for a distraction, you ask? Well… I have an interview tomorrow! My first one EVER! Yes, I’m 24 and have never had a job. My life has always been school and books. Especially the last five because I wanted out of here, but unfortunately plans got delayed or slightly changed depending on how you want to look at it. Now what makes me more nervous is this job contacted me through one of the sites where my resume was posted, and not through the Bureau of Vocational Rehab… So I have no clue if they won’t discriminate against me for my disability… For instance, my shoes are tennis shoes because it’s the only shoe that offers my ankle support. They aren’t exactly business attire with the rest of my interview clothes. Yes I know it’s illegal to discriminate, but let’s face it the world isn’t perfect and it still happens. Now this isn’t to say this will happen to the company I am interviewed by.

It’s just stuff like this that makes me hyper aware of my Cerebral Palsy. It is part of the reason I get it out of the way first when meeting people. So they can get over solely seeing my disability and instead see me and what I am able to do. I pretty much see myself like my peers. My CP is only a small fraction of me. It doesn’t DEFINE me. If your interested in hearing more of my thoughts of why it doesn’t please let me know in the comments below. Also I am only speaking for myself and not others with my disability because there are various types and degrees of it.

So bookworms to keep my hands busy because I don’t have the ingredients to bake, I decided to do a formal update on my reading progress. Any who hope you didn’t get bored with the mini nervous rant. Onto the books!

Genrethon: Day 3 Update

Finished:

Falling into Place by Amy Zhang

Falling into Place

This book helped me some, but it wasn’t as cathartic as I hoped it’d be! I did give it a 4.5 (5 on goodreads) 5 Stars on Goodreads. I really loved the magical realism of the narrator, but be forewarned this book has triggering moments. It did make me think at the very least.

Hana-Kimi Vol 1 by Hisaya Nakajo, David Ury (Translator)

Hana-Kimi Vol 1

This was a reread from Junior High reading it via my Nook since the first read was a friend copy. This was one of the first mangas I ever read! It was still as cute and funny still but seemed a little slower this time around. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. If you’re into Twelfth Night or retellings of it and looking for a manga to read this one is for you! =)

Currently Reading

Simon VS the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda

I am currently on chapter 27 and I’m really loving Simon’s Oreo diet! Seriously I want to eat everything he described! I’m really liking the amount of details and how I can see every setting. It is nice to feel as if I could walk through them! I plan to hopefully be done with it tonight.

What’s Left:

Loyalties by Wendi Kelly and Deborah Dorchak

Loyalties

So I was wrong on my page count I have 300 pages left. I plan to unwind with this one after I finish Simon because my phone will need a break.

Under the Lights by Dahlia Adler

Under the Lights

I will be reading this tonight after my Nook charges. I hope it’s a good book to calm my nerves for tomorrow.

The Beast Within by Serena Valentino

The Beast Within

This one will be read after I finish reading Loyalties because I am trying to read only one book in a  format at a time.

Fated by Alyson Noel

Fated

The same after I finish Under the Lights. I am curious to fall into another paranormal world by Alyson Noel.

Well that’s it for today’s post bookworms! How are you doing in the readathon or just your reading week? Do you have any interview tips for me? If you want to know more about how I feel about CP let me know in the comments down below. Happy Reading!

Any who bookworms that is my TBR! Yes it overlaps a bit with TBR Takedown because the day overlaps and it may be overly ambitious just a bit… We all do whatever it takes to motivate ourselves to cut down our TBR. The only day I won’t be reading is the 16th because I will be at the RT Convention! Eep! Are you participating in the Readathon? What’s on your TBR? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments even if it is just to let me know I am insane for my ambition. Happy Reading and I hope your sunday is a good one!
