Hey bookworms! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend. It’s time for Day 4 of this event, if you missed Day 3 feel free to give it a click! This week has gone beyond quick. Well Today’s Topic: Which … Continue reading
Hey bookworms! I am almost catching up on this challenge! Yay me! If you want to see my 1st Day and go on from there I will link it. This challenge was created by Annreads on Instagram and I thank her for letting me do this challenge because it has been a way to keep my blog active as well as my brain! So let me get started!
Day 13: Favorite BFF’s
Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
Kami and Angela
Let’s face it we all need a BFF we drag into adventure and I relate to Angela’s need for a push sometimes. I hope to finish this series next year to see if my love of these 2 friends remain the same
Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
Zuzana and Karu
Now I know I raved on Zuz on Day 7, but I really do adore this duo! They have such a solid friendship. The constant support of each other and the way they joke and play! I’ve loved them from the first instance they were together!
Bridge to Teribithia by Katherine Paterson
Jessie Aarons and Leslie Burke
Honestly it was nice to see a friendship between a boy and girl, so young. Someone to push you to be better it is amazing read on how two different minds can push you to grow!
Day 14: Books that Deserve More Attention
Pivot Point by Kasie West
Need something to curve your craving until the next X-Men movie? Well this is the book I recommend. I know it came out 2 years ago, but I feel it didn’t get the attention it needed because I wasn’t even aware of it until the my lovely Book BFF Paige sent it to me! I got to the end and couldn’t believe I hadn’t found it sooner. I plan to read the second as soon as I finish the reread I am on Scribd as well as some paper books that have been waiting for me. Definitely kept me guessing!
Inspire by Cora Carmack
Honestly my favorite Cora Carmack read because it took such a twist with Mythology and the muses! I definitely plan a reread before book two comes out!
Citrus Vol 1 by Saburo Uta
Now just like the cover the content is a bit explicit, so be warned, but I must spread the love for this. I am a manga lover and have been from a young age, but I am one of the few girls that does not have a love for yaoi. It just isn’t my thing, but I do have a good love for yuri with a good amount of angst and tension. I want them to work for a relationship. Sadly their aren’t many Yuri (girl love) manga out in the world, so I have to spread the love with this one. I really am addicted and want to know what happens next with each volume!
Well bookworms that is all for this post! Did you grow to love any new fictional friendships this year? Which were they? Do you know books that need more love? Know any yuri manga I should check out? How about any books that remind you of X-Men? Any X-Men reader fans out there or am I a lone mutant lover? Have you read any of these books if so share your thoughts with me on them in the comments! Happy Reading!
Hey bookworms! Guess what? July is over! Can you believe it? I know I can’t! 23 days till the start of my last semester of my undergrad… Scary… Any who if you read my July TBR, you will know I … Continue reading
Hey bookworms! How is your week going? It is half way through already! God School is going to be back around before we know it. Although it is halfway through the week, it is more than halfway through the readathon … Continue reading
Hey Bookworms! Time for another readathon! I just want to push myself to read more especially to reach my goal which I am 10 books away from! So this lovely readathon takes place today (your timezone): July 25th to the 31st … Continue reading
Hey bookworms! I decided I’d get to work on my May Wrap-up tonight since I am a bit awake. In the month of May I read 17 books (if I counted right)! Wow that is amazing! I haven’t realized how much I’ve read lately. I been feeling a little slumpy lately, but that is a conversation for another post. So in May I read: 6 mangas/graphic novels, 3 audio books, 1 short story, and 7 novels. I know I have mentioned some of these in Readathon wrap-ups: for RYBSAT and Bout of Books, so I will try not to be too repetitive with those! I will start with what I go in order of what I read first in the month and as always links to Goodreads pages are in the title.
May Wrap Up
1. Out of Time by Jen McLaughlin
This book was a 4 out of 5 stars for me. I don’t want to say more because this is a sequel and I don’t want to spoil anyone!
2. The Heir by Kiera Cass
This was also a 4 out of 5 for me! I have a lot to say on this book because I know a lot of people had issues with it and I did too in the beginning, so my review will be a bit in defense of it which I am still working on it. I kind of need to outline my points for this one, so I don’t forget my reasons. It will have spoilers, so be warned if you haven’t read it. I will really try to get it up by the end of this week.
3.Pokemon Black and White, Vol. 3 by Hidenori Kusaka
4 out of 5 stars
4. Pokemon Black and White Vol 4 by Hidenori Kusaka
4 out of 5 stars
5. Pokemon Adventures Vol 4 by Hidenori Kusaka
4 out of 5 Stars
6. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
This book was a 5 out of 5 stars for me! I know a lot of people complain it was confusing, but for me it was easy to follow it might have been the format since I listened to the audio book. I like that we didn’t have an all good heroine and that is what helped me become so invested in the characters. Which was a really good feeling because I have been struggling to connect to characters.
7. Recitatif by Toni Morrison
This was a 3 out of 5 stars for me I read it for a final and if it wasn’t for a final I probably would’ve liked it more.
8. Time Travelers: Volume One by Caroline B. Cooney
3 out of 5 stars
9. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
5 out of 5 stars I love this series and it will forever be part of my childhood and have a place in my heart.
10. Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
4 out of 5 stars the ending wasn’t my favorite.
11. The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
3 out of 5 stars
12. Generation Hope: The Future’s a Four-Lettered Word by Kieron Gillen
5 out of 5 stars it was my favorite X-Men comic I’ve found so far
13. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
5 out of 5 stars!
14. Behind the Scenes by Dahlia Adler
3 out of 5 stars I am more eager and interested in the sequel honestly
15. Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
5 out of 5 stars this book was really touching especially the end! The themes in this was really sweet and just an interesting insight into movies. If you haven’t picked this up I definitely recommend doing it ASAP!
16. Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 1 by Bisco Hatori
This was a 4 out of 5 for me since I’ve seen the anime twice. I like the manga to reveal things the anime doesn’t, but it is still really sweet and funny
17. Pokemon Adventures Vol 5 by Hidenori Kusaka
5 out of 5 stars! I really like Yellow and want to see what happens next! I am confused on Yellow’s gender, but I am eager for the next volumes as I slowly collect them.
So bookworms that is all I read in May! What did you read? Do you have any thoughts on these books? Let me know in the comments below please. I am still deciding if I want to do a June TBR since I am currently in a readathon and plan to participate in another one on the 15th. Let me know if you’d like to do one though. Happy reading =)
Hey bookworms! 2 posts in one night I know, but I was a little lazy during the day. Any who I participated in RYBSAT last week which ended on the 25th. I was a little sad to see it end I liked tweeting and being active with the other participants. Well I deviated from my TBR a bit and was only able to get 6 books read, but I still feel proud of that! So let’s get to the books I finished and the ones I am still working on finishing hopefully this week. As always the links to the goodreads are in the titles!
1. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Finished this audio book and it just reminded me of everything I loved about it when I read it the first time. I loved the audio book and it was a million stars for me! This will forever be a crucial part in what shaped the safe moments of my childhood. Listening to it reminded me I am still safe with my books.
2. Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
I was loving this book laughing out loud at the humor and dynamics of it. Awwing and rooting for characters. I know people have mentioned it was a love triangle, but I didn’t feel like it was much of one. Then I got to the end of this book and it made me very angry! So this book got a 4 out 5 stars from me. I hope the other 2 fix my anger.
3. The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
I had the same issue with this as I did when I was younger. I know this story is a bit morbid, so the slow writing style fits. I just found myself dragging through it. I did enjoy the characters though so this book was a 3 out of 5 for me.
4. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by by Laini Taylor and narrated by Khristine Hvam
Honestly I loved this book I adored the narrator! Another issue of it being formatted in tracks, but I cannot wait to see what happens next! It was a 5 out of 5 stars for me! Love any book that involves rebirth =)
5. Generation Hope: The Future’s a Four-Lettered Word story by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Salva Espin
I loved this comic and want to get my hands on the next volumes! I loved the main heroine and the artwork! I am really happy to have found an X-Men Comic I loved. 5 out of 5 stars!
6. Behind the Scenes by Dahlia Adler
I liked this book, but the main character got on my nerves a bit. Some of the cursing was a bit extreme and I know teens curse, but it was just ugh. I’m not a prude, but there are other ways to express annoyance. It was a 3 out of 5 stars for me. I am excited to read the next book: Under the Lights which I received an ARC copy from Netgalley. That one caught my eye more.
1. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
I was trying to finish the reread of this on Sunday and Monday, but some fam stuff came up. I really am going to try and get this done by Saturday at the latest.
2. A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
I started a few chapters of this Wednesday and it will be my first book by this author. This was my book pick from my personalized Uppercase Subscription box this month. I was so excited because I was on the fence for buying it myself, so I was so happy to receive it especially since I am on a retelling kick. I will let you guys no more after I read more of it!
So bookworms that is what I got done in this readathon! What did you guys get done? I plan to post my next readathon post on Sunday, so be on the lookout for that. Let me know what you thought of these books. I always love to talk especially about books! Happy reading!
Hey Bookworms! Here as promised is my April Wrap-up, May TBR, and some little life updates! So Let’s get started with the 9 books I read in April! 4 Novels (?), 2 graphic novels/comics, 1 manga, and 1 audio book. So I will start from what I started with at the beginning of the month to the last I finished. As always the goodreads links are in the titles because I am not the best at summaries, and don’t want to be biased to any store!
1. When I’m Gone by Abbi Glines
2. Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods by Rick Riordan
This is why I had a question mark next to novel because I would list this as an anthology. I loved hearing Percy narrate this and the illustrations are AMAZING! Anyone who’s read the PoJ series I definitely recommend reading this it was a 5/5 stars!
3. Once Upon a Time: Out of the Past by Kalinda Vázquez (Text) and Corinna Bechko (Illustrations)
I fangirled so much when this preorder came! It was gorgeous without the dust jacket! The pictures are on my Twitter date April 16th because I can’t get them off my phone right now, but I was a happy Oncer! That being said I do pay attention to the illustrations and can tend to be picky and they can even kill a story for me. Regina’s and Hook’s were not my favorite. Honestly I couldn’t tell she was Regina… I did like the story lines of all of them, so this graphic novel was a 4/5 stars!
4. Ceres, Celestial Legend Volume 2: Yuhi by Yuu Watase
This was a reread for me this was my favorite manga/anime in middle school and high school. I wish I had the DVD’s but the manga’s are available as E-books, so it’s a compromise. I won’t say much else because it was a sequel, but it was a 5/5 stars for me even if Aya got on my nerves in a few scenes
5. One Day by David Nicholls
This was my audiobook for the month and if I do break my ban it will probably be for more audiobooks! I did a short summary of what I thought in my 24 Hour Readathon Wrapup! This is one of my favorite love stories in the world though!
6. Pivot Point by Kasie West
Super powered teens yes please! The review for this one is also in my 24 Hour Readathon Wrapup, but it was a really fun read that kept me guessing!
7. New X-Men Book 1 by Grant Morrison
I finished this Thursday and although the art work got better I got a little bored and bit confused near the end of it. I do want to keep trying with these comics though. I really want to open myself to more graphic novels and comics! I really did love Wolverine, so at least that is consistent! I gave it a 3/5 stars!
8. Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
This is another reread from high school and I found myself loving Oliver all over again. I really do love the underdog characters. This is one of my favorite takes on Vampires the thought of them being fallen angels it really is interesting. Plus I have a weakness for anything that involves reincarnation. That being said growing up there were a few moments with the characters that annoyed me about them. It was a 4/5 stars, but I am definitely going to enjoy rereading this series!
9. Disney by Rees Quinn
I enjoyed it a bit at the beginning, but then it seemed like someone just copied and pasted it from the internet. I know a biography is about someone else’s life, but i feel the writer should still have a voice. It was a 2/5 stars for me.
(Starting with my currently reading to what I want to read next!)
1. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
I know, I know I’ve been reading this forever! School got busy and it was a bit of heavy read, so I stopped reading it in March and April. I want to finish it when the semester is over which is next week, so I want to buckle down with it. After I finish I hope to continue with my buddy read onto the second book!
2. The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
I know it’s a short book, but I have some school reading to get done this weekend, so I plan to take this bit by bit and finish it really soon!
3. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
My first audio book of the month and I’m not sure which I love more the story or the Narrator’s voice! I plan to finish it within the next week or two because I am hypnotized!
4. The Time Travelers Volume One by Caroline B. Cooney
Honestly another reread nostalgia case! In the first 30 pages I found it cute, but now reading it older I find some of the characters behaviors annoying… It got a bit slow and a bit boring, but I want to push through this!
5. Out of Time by Jen McLaughlin
This is a second book in a new adult series I forgot about, so I reread the last bit of the first book, Out of Line, before diving into this one. It pulled me in, but I have a few notes already in the first few chapters. I think this will be the next book I want to review!
6. Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
I’ve wanted to read this book since it’s release, so I’m really really hoping to read it this month! I hope it’s everything I have been waiting for!
7. The Heir by Kiera Cass
On Tuesday I am seriously excited to feed my curiosity about this book! I can’t wait for it to come out! So whatever I am reading I am dropping to devour this!!!
I also plan on participating in Bout of Books readathon this time around to try and knock out my TBR some more! The last day for sign-ups is on the 12th. This readathon takes place from the 11th to the 17th. So next weekend I will post a TBR for that on Friday. I just am excited to do another readathon they make me feel accomplished.
So bookworms that is my wrap-up and my TBR! I am happy with my reading this month it felt more relaxed. Have you read any of these books? Do you plan to? Are you going to participate in Bout of Books? What May releases are you excited for? Let me know in the comments. Talking about books is my favorite! Also I updated my blog to include a contact page, so if you want to talk or suggest things you want me to talk about feel free to contact me! Happy reading and have a good weekend! I will post again very soon!
Hey bookworms! I decided to do the weekly meme of WWW Wednesday hosted by: Taking on a World of Words! This is a weekly meme where book bloggers answer three W questions. What are the three W’s? I’ll list them before jumping right into it.
1. What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think you’ll read next?
(Going from Oldest to most Recently Started)
1. The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
This is an old series that at the age I started at was a bit too dark for me to like. When I was younger I admit I liked the lighter fluffier stuff. Now that I’m 23 I feel my itch to finish what I started. They are short reads, so I plan to try and finish this book today or tomorrow on Scribd.
2. New X-Men Book 1 by Grant Morrison (Text), Ethan Van Sciver, Frank Quitely, Leinil Francis Yu (Illustrations)
As I said in my March Wrap-up I want to give all versions of X-Men a chance. Again I find myself favoring the movie franchise since the artwork isn’t my cup of tea. I am also reading this on scribd and I really want to give these a chance. Just taking a bit to distance myself from what I grew up on.
3. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
This is my most recent on my Audio book kick and I do not regret it! The narrator is pure perfection for this story and I could listen to her voice all day. Audio books are something I listen to on the bus and before class. So I am not too far, but I am definitely sucked in!
4. The Time Travelers Volume One by Caroline B Cooney
This is another childhood reread. One series I didn’t get to finish because I didn’t know the Volume 2 was ever released. I was browsing my nook one day and saw that both volumes 1 and 2 were on there. It really bothers me not to finish a series unless I hated the first book, so out of duty and curiosity I really want to see the end of it! I am only 30 pages in, but it is as cute as I remember.
5.Disney by Rees Quinn
This was a biography I bought on bookbub a few days ago. I was bored in class today, so I clicked it out of curiosity. I am a Disney girl through and through. It is only a bit over 100 pages, so I think I will finish it either tonight or tomorrow.
What I Recently Finished Reading
(I won’t go too much into this one since I will post my April Wrap-up on Friday or Saturday)
1. Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
What I Want to Read Next
1. Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
This was the book I got in my personalized Uppercase subscription which I promise to blog about soon, but I have wanted to read this book probably since it’s release, so I was very excited to get it!
2. Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
Another book I’ve wanted to read for a long while! It is on my Nook TBR shelf I created, so I want to read it asap (and hopefully do a review)!
3. Masquerade by Melissa de la Cruz
I’ve decided to reread through this series wanting the comfort of something I enjoyed in High School, so I will be tackling the second book soon. I never noticed but this cover is a little creepy…
4. The Heir by Kiera Cass
This comes out on Tuesday and needless to say no matter what I’m reading when it comes out. I will drop it to devour this! I am beyond excited!!!!
So bookworms that is my WWW Wednesday! I hope you enjoyed reading it. Have you read any of these? Do you find yourself drawn back to books you read in high school? Well that is all the blogging I can do tonight my right hand is being a hassle today… Have a good night guys and happy reading! Feel free to comment because I can still use my left hand to reply on my phone =)
Hey Bookworms! Like I said in the previous post tonight will be a few post, although the next I will write tonight, but schedule for tomorrow, so I am not too pushy with posts tonight! So if you have been reading my life updates, the beginning of April wasn’t easy for me. That being said I didn’t put a wrap-up together for March, and I felt bad for it. So in case you’re curious on what I finished in March here it is! I read 12 books (if I counted right): 2 audio books, 7 mangas/graphic novels, and 3 novels.
2015 March Wrap-Up
It was short, but it was a good read and fed my pokemon fangirl. I didn’t get the fill of what I wanted, but I enjoyed the cuteness. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. ^_^
2. Vampire Knight Vol. 1 by Matsuri Hino
I was a little disappointed in this manga honestly. When I read a manga of an anime I have watched I hope to find things not included in the anime. I like Easter eggs as my friend calls them. I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
3. Stardust by Neil Gaiman
First audiobook I listened to in March, and I am so glad I did!!! I love Neil Gaiman’s voice it made this story even better and I still was able to lookup quotes and highlight them on my nook. Even if you are not an audio book fan, I seriously suggest checking out any of Neil Gaiman’s books in audio format. He does his own readings. This book was beautiful and the interview after helped me learn even more about the story I gave it a 5 out of 5 stars although it goes way off the scale honestly!!!
4. Kiro’s Emily by Abbi Glines
This is listed as a novel on goodreads, but I would list it as a novella. I thought it was sweet to find the backstory of these set of parents, but again it has the same quality as the last Gline’s book I reviewed. It was rushed, but being a novella was understandable. This hurt, but helped me a bit. It is a book I would try again in a happier time. I gave it a 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.
5. Legendary Pokemon, Pokemon Adventures Vol. 2 by Hidenori Kusaka
Honestly this is what I mean by providing more than the anime I know Red is not Ash and honestly I am glad. I like red way more! This one I gave a 5 out of 5 stars!
6.Someday’s Dreamers by Norie Yamada
This manga was so cute and unique with it’s idea of witches and magic. Witches use their magic to grant wishes and the main character is a young apprentice. I gave this manga a 4 out of 5 stars and definitely am going to pick up the next one!
7. Zodiac by Romina Russell
This one was slightly spoiled for me, so I wasn’t able to form my feelings over that element. Which upset me a bit because I was excited to get my hands on this. That being said I did like it and gave it a 4 out of 5 stars, so I hope the sequel I can go into blind and feel for it.
8. Ultimate X-Men Book 1 by Mark Millar and Geoff Johns
As I said in the previous post I grew up on the X-Men movies and shows. That being said I am new to the comics. I favor the films so much that i was unable to go in unbiased. So this one only got a a 3 out of 5 stars and I think this was more because the art work was not my favorite. That being said I will check out other versions because there are a lot and I want to hope they will increase my love for the franchise.
9. Evermore by Alyson Noel
My second audio book I was craving my favorite HS series and since my copies aren’t with me and the first audio book wasn’t much on my nook audio app I bought it. I found flaws more in it this time around, but I definitely feel people judge this book too harshly. It is NOT insta-love it is predestined. It was my first book with reincarnation and I loved it. It gave me a sort of hope for more than our mistakes. I love the work the author puts into her research for her books and I will start her other series soon I hope. The narrator fit Ever’s voice, but listening to the book definitely reminded my how long ago I first read it. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars!
10. Pokemon Black and White Volume 2 by Hidenori Kusaka and Satoshi Yamamoto
This one was really cute and included my favorite characters I am definitely going to continue this series may be one that I exclude from my book buying ban. I gave it a 5 out of 5 stars!
11. Unleashed by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié
I was happy to have finally finished this book I was hoping it was a stand alone, but it is part of a trilogy! Which means I am want to know what happens next! I definitely got attached to Trick and want to see more of him!! It was 4 out of 5 stars for me!
12. Pokemon Adventures Volume 3 by Hidenori Kusaka and Satoshi Yamamoto
I definitely loved how fast paced this series is and the backstory learned for characters again this may be another series I break my ban for on occasion. I gave it a 5 out of 5 stars!
So bookworms there is my belated March Wrap-up! I hope you didn’t mind the wait and thank you for the patience. Have you read any of these books? What was your favorite book of last month? Do you have a franchise that you love? Let me know in the comments! =) Happy reading bookworms!
